D’Arcy Short worth sticking with?

Short was Australia’s second best batsman throughout the tri-series, statistically speaking. However, the stats don’t tell the full story of Short’s struggles in Zimbabwe, where he was dropped for one match. The 27-year-old regularly laboured in the middle, wasting valuable deliveries on his way to modest totals.Short was dropped after Australia’s third match of the series against Pakistan, where he made 28 off 34 balls,
hitting just the one boundary before Shaheen Afridi brought his tortured stay to an end.He may have also technically been one half of the biggest partnership in T20I history last Tuesday, but he only scored 46 off 42 balls in the 223-run stand. But Short may have shown why he is worth sticking with in the tri-series final on Sunday night.Under pressure to validate his re-call, the opener picked up the strike rate and played his way to Australia’s top score of 76 off 53 balls. The innings showed Short is capable of delivering under pressure, and could be worth retaining in the opening slots moving forward.
